Should I have the latest in Technology?

There is always a new toy out there. There is always a new technology that is sweeping businesses. It can get tiresome trying to keep up, let alone what it can do to your company’s budget. How do you know what technologies you should implement and which ones are best left to admire.
How does technology fit your business now? Is your business doing well with a couple of workstations and a server or two? Are those servers doing their job without breaking and needing constant support? Or are you constantly wanting to do things and do not have the technology to implement the practices that would improve your business?
The use of technology can be a very tight rope to walk. Even simple things like deciding which anti-virus to use can be daunting. Unfortunately, there is no simple answer to these questions. It can take some serious examination to figure out the answers.
The use of technology is just a way to help you to effectively run your business. It can be compared to a washing machine. You can wash your clothes by hand, or you can let a machine do it while you are doing other tasks. The trap that many businesses get caught up in, though, is making the implementation of technology their business.
